Honolulu & Aiea HI, November 2020 – Dr. Cedric Lewis and the Teams at Wai‘alae Dental Care, and Dental Care of Pearlridge are eAssist’s most recent recipients of the Top Practice Award. This honor is awarded each month to two exceptional eAssist clients who embody the values of integrity, expertise and grace, while providing exemplary patient care, running efficient operations, and giving back to their communities. Presented to the practice as a whole, the award recognizes the need for a cohesive unit to run a practice to the highest standards.
Dr. Cedric Lewis earned his DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1996, going on to complete courses in esthetics and implants, anesthesia and pain control, cosmetic dentistry, and the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ disorders. Dr. Lewis is a charter member of the prestigious Hawaii Terry Tanaka Dental Study Group for prosthodontics, and one of 12 dentists in the U.S., and the only one from Hawaii, chosen by the American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership. Dr Lewis is especially proud of having been voted by his peers as one of Hawaii’s Best Dentists in Honolulu Magazine from 2008 through 2015. Moreover, he has been rated by the same magazine as a Best Dentist in Hawaii every year since 2004.
Dr. Lewis has grown the practice to include two locations (Honolulu and Aiea) with a highly educated and professional roster of 10 dental experts in addition to himself. He views the staff as the practice’s greatest asset. All dental assistants and hygienists are licensed professionals who pride themselves on their use of the most current dental techniques, and outstanding patient communication.
The teams at both locations are proud to provide “kokua” in dental care – the Hawaiian word for selflessly helping others in the spirit of kindness and love. As Dr. Lewis explained, “It fits our dental care philosophy. Patient health, comfort and convenience are our priorities. Our team is built around the values of compassion and cooperation. We pride ourselves on taking the time to listen to, and get to know each patient as an individual; to develop trust and build a long-term relationship.”
Dr. Lewis strongly believes they have an important part to play in the wellbeing and quality-of-life of their patients, and of others in the community. They give back in numerous ways, such as:
- Unlike many doctors who prefer not to work with insurance companies, the practice advertises “We love insurance and maximize your benefits.” By directly offering low-cost dental coverage packages, they are able to provide cleanings and exams free to the patient.
- Military discounts are offered to veterans
- Dr. Lewis volunteers as a dentist for Special Olympics Hawaii, and the Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services, a health center where he started a dental mentorship program for disadvantaged kids.
