Member of eAssist Consultant Network to help shape the success of private dental practice
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, April 26, 2023 — eAssist Dental Solutions (www.dentalbilling.com), the nation’s leading platform for dental billing and patient billing services for dental offices, is proud of eAssist Consultant Network member Debra Engelhardt-Nash as the newly elected President of the Academy for Private Dental Practice (APDP). Formerly the American Academy of Dental Practice (AADP), the APDP has shifted its mission to perpetuate private practice dentistry by equipping dentists with the necessary business skills to run successful private practices.
Debra has been in the dental industry for 38 years as a consultant and speaker. She began her career at a major consulting firm, forming her own company in 1985. When not working with in-office teams, she is speaking and presenting across the U.S. and abroad. She is a Founding Member of the Academy of Dental Management Consultants, serving as President three times in its 35 years. Debra has been a member of AADP, now APDP for 23 years, sits on the Board of Speaking Consultant Network, and the Advisory Board for Dentistry Today. Her passion project is being an advocate for teaching dental offices about human trafficking, working at both the national and local levels.
“I’m honored to be elected President – only the second non-dentist to ever be elected as president in the history of the organization,” said Debra. “I’m excited about this organization and about helping its trajectory forward. Their meetings are where I come to be refired and refueled; where I learn, and become excited and inspired. There’s nothing like being with like-minded individuals learning together, and I think a lot of attendees feel the same. As President I feel it is my responsibility to ignite our members and keep them engaged and recharged.”

First formed as the American Academy of Dental Practice (AADP) in 1957 when dentistry comprised only private practices, the name was changed to reflect the evolving landscape. APDP’s restated mission is to perpetuate private dental practices, a segment currently shrinking 7% per year. The organization promotes private practice dentistry by equipping dentists with the necessary business skills to start and run successful private practices, and by facilitating the sharing of best practices among members.
