D6085 (provisional implant crown) is applicable when a period of healing is required prior to the fabrication and seat of the permanent prosthetic.
Dental Insurance and D6085
It is viable and necessary but with insurance policy provisions, it may be excluded as a payable code or will be considered as “inclusive” of the permanent restorative. Some PPO contracts will disallow the code or only consider it if the permanent prosthetic is never placed. You must read the fine print in the policy processing manual to see how this code is managed.
If you are struggling with dental codes consider partnering with eAssist. Our Success Consultants are familiar with the various CDT codes and will ensure they are billed correctly. To learn more, schedule a consultation here.
