Dental coding can be complex making dental billing a difficult process. Here are some tips on how to properly bill CDT code D6080.
What is D6080?
According to the ADA, it is “Implant Maintenance Procedures When Prostheses are Removed and Reinserted, Including Cleansing of Prosthesis and Abutments.”
How do I bill implant maintenance procedures?
This code can only be billed when the prostheses are removed and reinserted. If you are cleaning around the implant this code is not applicable. This is not a per-implant code but for the entire prosthesis. The code includes scaling and debridement of the entire structure and the implant system on a per-visit charge. The code also includes hygiene instructions for home care and proper maintenance of the prosthesis and abutments.
